- Need A Root Canal? Be Aware Of…
- Why Does Tooth Pain Occur?
- What is Happening ‘In’ The Root?
First, the basic ‘topography’ of the tooth and endodontic therapy. Root canals are performed to remedy the conditions associated with disease or damage to the inner tooth, where the pulp tissue resides. The pulp contains nerve fibers and other elements like veins, lymph vessels, arteries and connective tissue.

Why Does Tooth Pain Occur?
- Trauma (car accidents, dental work, sports injury, hit to face, fall, etc.)

What is Happening ‘In’ The Root?
- Like the brain – teeth react with swelling when traumatized
- Nerve damage and corresponding Infection causes pain
- Discharge of infection (pus) stresses the tooth; creating pressure producing pain.
- Gangrene sets in (If a nerve totally deteriorates and the root tissue dies, gangrene will develops.)
